Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions are needed?
It depends on the student’s baseline scores and personal goals. Ideally, we practice up until
the test date. Wait for the results. Get test booklet back. Evaluate mistakes. Re-test until the
student reaches their desired score.
How many times can I take the test?
Unlimited, most students take each test at least twice. This is advantageous with super scoring.
What is Superscore?
You are allowed to take the highest scores from each of your different test dates. This is particularly good when devising strategies to obtain Bright Futures.
Where do I register?
SAT is www.collegeboard.com and the ACT is www.act.org
How often do we meet for tutoring?
Once a week for an hour and a half leading up to the test date.
How early can I start taking the test?
If you have had Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry then you can start taking the test as early as
the end of your Sophomore year of high school. Students who wait until their Senior year have often forgotten Algebra I and Geometry.
How long have you been tutoring?
Twenty years in the Tampa Bay area. Fifteen years SAT/ACT test prep.
How many points can I expect to increase?
A lot depends on your baseline and how many sessions you attend. Results vary but generally
between 100-200 points.
Do you work with students with test accommodations?
A large portion of my students are eligible for accommodations. Parents will often present their
child’s psychological evaluation at our first tutoring session. This is where my experience with testing and evaluation is essential. We work together to make sure all accommodations are given on test day.
